Tips for walking in heels

Beautiful crossdresser in heelsHigh heels are every girl's best friend. And that's why we all worry a little or a lot about how to walk in them correctly at first. That is why here we will share some tips for walking in heels like a goddess.

Walking in sky-high heels can be a little tricky, especially if you're not used to it. But don't worry. Let's start with a little bit of shoe 101.

Learning about your shoes

One of the things crossdressers are most interested in is learning to walk in heels.

If you've never worn heels regularly, a pair of lovely stiletto heels from 6″ is probably not the best place to start. Choosing the right high heels is super important, so here you will get a master class on the subject explained in one minute (...sort of).

When it comes to high heels it's all about your comfort and how to get through whole the day in them. Well, wearing high heels all day is an exaggeration... maybe. So here you have your first rule:

Higher heels = less comfort

This is not rocket science: higher heels are much less comfortable than shorter ones. Once you’re used to walking in those, start to gradually work your way up. So look at the height of the heels. It is important.

Did you get this? Ok, let's go to the next one:

Thicker heels = easier to wear

When it comes to shoes, size does matter. The thicker the heel, the easier it is to walk, as opposed to the stiletto, which is much harder to balance. At the beginning, choose heels that are thicker and sturdier, which give your foot more stability and give you more confidence.

The next thing you'll want to know is the heel arch. The closer the shoe arch is to a 90-degree angle, the more uncomfortable it will be. This is closely related to the height of the heels.

The heel arch closest to the 90 degree angle = tears (...and many)

One point that most of the time can be overlooked is the shape of tip of our shoes. Walking with a round toe shoe will be much easier and more comfortable than walking with a pointed shoe, obviously because it is the shape of your foot. I don't think anyone has a foot shaped like a triangle.

Rounded toe shoe= more comfy
Pointed toe shoe= less comfy

I will always prefer to wear heels instead of platforms, but I must say that platforms can be much stable than other types of shoes, since the platform makes the heel feel shorter. And more stable means more easy to walk in them.

Platform = less sexy but more stable

Another good rule is that the thicker the strap, the easier it will be to walk in it. shoes with thick straps will be much more comfortable compared to those with thinner straps, because they will have much more support with the thickness of the straps.

Thicker straps=more support

Start small

The best piece of advice I can give to anyone starting out in the world of high heels is to start with smaller heels. Yes, I know that 2 inch heels are not nearly as sexy as 6 inch killer heels but they are the best thing to start with. Low and wide heels to allow you to learn. With a little patience and a lot of practice you will get to walk in heels like a pro.

Heel to toe

It is quite possible that when we walk with other types of footwear we always put the heel first and then the rest of the foot, but because the heel of these shoes is very low or nonexistent the feeling is similar to being almost supporting the whole foot at the same time. With high heels this does not happen so if we keep walking the way we usually do with normal shoes we will look quite weird doing it.
Higher heels: less comfort. Something like a baby giraffe learning to walk. And that's not glamorous at all.

We must learn to accentuate the movement of the foot a little more to ensure that it is always stepped on first with the heel and then the rest of the shoe. Heel to toe. Heel to toe. That is the way.

Pretend you are walking on an invisible line. A straight line to wherever you want to go. Now walk by placing one foot in front of the other. There you go.

Practice makes perfect

So practice walking all over your house, from top to bottom. Go for a walk in the street. Do whatever you want. Prepare dinner or clean the house (in heels of course).

You will want to practice walking in heels as many surfaces as possible- carpet, smooth floors, and up and down the stairs. Ok. talking about stairs, when comes to stairs only put the ball of your feet on each step as you climb. But if you walk down, put your whole foot on the step, heel first, then toe, and make sure you step firmly on it before placing the other foot down. Oh, almost forget, make sure you hold on to the railing, you know, just in case...and don't rush!!!

Shoes got to fit

Don't forget you're a princess, you're a queen, you're Cinderella. Make sure the shoe fits. Fit is of utmost importance with your heels, because if you are struggling just to keep them on your feet by making an agonizing face every time your foot hits the ground, you will not be able to walk on them.

Nothing is worst than a shoe that's too small. Even going a size up is better than a size that's too small because you can fix that by buying heel grips to make them feel a little more secure. So make sure you go ahead and get a shoe that fits properly. Your feet will thank you later.

Break them in

Don't be afraid to try and wear your new high heels around your house before a big event like if you are going to be meeting Prince Charming at the ball. Before enjoying your nice new heels, you should first must break them in a little. A good way to do this is with the help of a hair dryer and a pair of thick socks.

Now you are ready. Go forth and be stylish.

Improve your posture

No one can deny that we look beautiful in high heels. But it is also a proven fact that when we wear them we alter the whole natural posture of our bodies, affecting not only our feet and ankles but even our spine. Therefore, it is a good idea not to abuse high heels, since over time they can affect many of our muscles, weakening them and affecting our natural balance.

Yes, I know these are not things we like to hear, but we must keep them in mind for our own good.

On the other hand, if we want to look better when wearing our heels we can do so by improving our posture. Keep your head in line with your spine. Hold your chin up high and chest out, shoulders back. Keep your abdominal muscles engaged by sucking your belly button in towards your spine.

Remember, you are a goddess.

Think about where you are going

There are some many different kinds of heels out there and it's important to learn which ones are the most comfortable for each event. If you know you are going to a fancy dinner where you're going to be sitting down the whole time go ahead, pull out the stilettos where the super uncomfortable is purely therefore the aesthetic. But if you know you are going to be walking around a lot or going on a tinder date with someone you never met before and are gonna want to be able to stand up even after a few coktails you might want to opt for those boots made for walking.

Learn to stand

One of the biggest things when it comes to high heels is: don't forget you are not only going to be walking in them but you are going to be standing in them so make sure you practice how to stand.

Alright, so this is something that you ladies might know as pretty feet. Instead of just standing as you would normally stand in other types of footwear, you are going to put one foot in the middle of the other, like a ballet dancer, putting all the pressure of your weight on one foot. Then swapping the position of the feet to alternate the pressure on the foot. By putting presurre on one foot at a time it kind of gives your other foot a chance to rest, an then you can switch them ultimately you balance beetwen the two shoes all night is going to totally extend the wear of your shoes comfort.

Cushions and insoles

Like last tip but not the least, if you want to be comfortable with your lovely heels cushions and insoles will become in your best friends. You can literally pick these up anywhere. All you got to do is go ahead, slip them into your shoe like so and them it gives you a nice cushy gel insole versus the regular rock-hard shoe, much more comfortable and extend your wear for hours at a time.
